XNA Game Studio 2.0 Announced

in

Today, Michael Klucher announced the upcoming release of XNA Game Studio 2.0 in the XNA Team Blog!

The version will finally integrate into the Standard and Profressional editions of Visual Studio 2005 as well (I for one don't need this, but there have been outcries in the XNA forums from users wanting to use the XNA content pipeline in the professional edition. How they can afford that price tag for next to zero additional features is beyond me :]).

Some more changes:

  • The XNA GraphicsDeviceManager will cooperate with Windows.Forms now
  • Content processors can now publish parameters that can be set by the user
  • A virtualized GraphicsDevice. Sounds like a layer on top of the GraphicsDeviceManager that wraps any GraphicsDevice-bound resource and automatically recreates the resource with its content when needed.

I'm still hoping for an audio streaming interface that will allow me to play back ogg or mp3 music with XACT.
